MONICA COOK’s SEEDED AND SOILED
I’m taking a look back at artist, Monica Cook’s ‘Seeded and Soiled’ - aseries of paintings in which women share the spotlight with food. Due to a more obvious observation it’s a collection of paintings that I’ve heard referred to as ‘Grotesque Food Porn’.
I find some of the images disturbingly seductive, case in point, the
painting entitled “Succi” (my favorite by the way) - a mass entanglement of nude bodies, fruits, and tentacles… it gives me all the emotions of being trapped in a David Lynch movie, as if I’d been felt up, proceeding a car accident – it’s disorienting, strangely erotic in that I can’t stop wondering just who is consuming what, or if it’s the other way around.
I just love Beksinski

On June 26, 1956, author C.S. Lewis responded to a fan letter from Joan Lancaster, a young Chronicles of Narnia enthusiast.
In a personalized thank-you letter, the writer imparted some simple and valuable stylistic advice for budding prose writers.
