From āSlightly Demented Childrenās Storiesā by Yuko Shimizu
New York born artistĀ Tom SachsĀ is something of a troublemaker on the art scene. Focused on critiquing fashion and street cultures, he manipulates our ideas of consumption, branding, commercial imagery and objects of money and power.Ā Tom Sachs addresses the mania around fashion, attempting to change viewerās perceptions of precious items and revered brands.Ā His pieces have a very ādo-it-yourselfā quality, made from mundane materials: foam core, Sharpie markers, duct tape and hot glue.Ā Several of his sculptures include Chanel Guillotine (Breakfast Nook ā98), Chanel Chainsaw (ā96).

#DESIGN: URBAN CAMOUFLAGE BY ROELAND OTTEN
Dutch designer Roeland Otten uses photographic prints, mosaic tiles and paint to camouflage misplaced public eyesores on city streets.
For his latest project Otten camouflaged the little concrete building of GGD Amsterdam with little mosaic tiles, creating a pixelated view of the surrounding area. Check out more after the jump:

My favorite local bookstore has printed book chapters on tiles. I love this idea so much. Iām totally doing the same thing when I have my own house.
