Visually Striking Manipulations
These photo manipulations are above average, I really love Thomas Barbéy creative images. The traveling photographer is very talented and he takes a lot of his creative cues from artists around. I especially love the way he casually blends two images seamlessly into one. The first composition is truly amazing, Thomas fuses landscape with a sheet to create a visually striking piece. Another classic is where Thomas incorporates a hand that appears to be drawing the architectural monument, The Eiffel Tower. Thomas does an amazing job with these photos, be sure to check out more of his work after the jump.
With his series Smoking Kids, Belgian photographer Frieke Janssens focuses on the issue of smoking, drawing the viewers attention on the aesthetics of smoke and the particular way smokers gesticulate with their hands and posture.
Nele Azevedo, Melting Men, 2009
We love the clever environmental message that this installation portrays. Azevedo carved 1,000 figures out of ice and situated them on the steps of the concert hall in Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt square. They began melting within half an hour, which drives home the warning of the project that the melting ice caps will most likely cause sea-levels to rise more than 3.3 feet by 2100.
We love these hyperrealistic drawings by Vija Celmins! Practice your Slow Art Day skills by admiring her technical skill and the beauty of the ocean.
